Istanbul is the largest city in Turkey which is very easy to be accessed by a lot of travelers from Middle East, Africa, and Europe. The city is located on both European and Asian continents and this is a city is evolving quickly to become the best tourist spot of culture and fashion. Even though the majority of residents in Istanbul are Muslim, the country and city governments are secular that becomes a unique blend of old-world Islamic culture and modern luxuries culture.

Sultanahmet

A couple of most famous tourist attractions in Istanbul are located in the district of Sultanahmet. If you go there, you will find a couple of great spots such as Hagia Sofia, Blue Mosque, Topkapi Palace, Basilica Cistern, and Grand Bazaar before going to nearby Eminonu in order to shop in the Spice Bazaar.

Using Public Transportation

Using the extensive public transportation network of the Istanbul city is the easiest way in order to get around this city. There are a couple of transportations that you can choose such as subway, tram, funicular or bus system. By using those transportations, you can experience the city from the perspective of local citizens.

Go to different place

For a break from chaotic crowds and traffic of Istanbul, you just can take a ship from the Eminonu and you can go to the Bosphorus River into the Buyukada tranquil island. You can rent cars in that island, and you can only rent bikes in order to explore the hills.

The docks should be visited

The Galata Bridge is located near the Eminonu ferry docks where you can enjoy a couple of people fishing off of the bridge, lounge in one of a couple of restaurants and bars, and sample street food which are located below the bridge. But you have to be careful because there are a couple of pickpockets and thieves in this place.

Safety first

By and large, Istanbul is a very safe city. Like all large cities, normal precautions are required and just as you wouldn't take any chances in New York or London, don't in Istanbul. The four most common threats to personal safety in Istanbul are all associated with your money. The first of these threats is purse-snatching, a global game everywhere one goes. Purse -snatching tends to occur in tourist areas (where you'll be spending all your time in Istanbul), and is generally done by children just approaching their teens. It's best not to chase down the scamps, even if you are able, as most certainly their parental guardians are nearby, and this is a confrontation best avoided. (Trip-Advisor)
